Ireland - Oct 2008

While Stephen and Gk were in Cabo, Cliona and I headed across the pond for our annual Ireland visit. We left on oct 1st - and even though there are no blog updates for September, there was plenty going on. I had a beach volleyball party for my birthday which was a lot of fun. Cliona started in her sea-star class and began to do 'work'. She's currently working on writing Aa-Ff and 1-5. A and 1 are no trouble to her but everything else is deemed 'tricky'. Oh, and she is not allowed 'scribble scrabble' when she is supposed to be working. Serious stuff! We also went camping - a first for Clio and Gk and I got an autograph from Kerri Walsh after she and Misty won the Manhattan beach AVP.

Our trip to Ireland was fantastic. Travelling is so much easier now and even though we did go through the usual 3 days of jet-lag, Cliona was in great spirits and delighted to see my Mam, Dad and Uncle Eoghan. She had Dad and Eoghan spinning her in no time and she and her Nan had fun playing shop, baking and playing cards. She really got along well with everyone, was very friendly and affectionate and seemed to thoroughly enjoy being on holiday :)
There was quite a few firsts this visit - first time on a real train, playing snap, on a bus, in a castle and at the childrens museum Imaginosity . And we still did the old favourites, a visit to the indoor playground, collecting chestnuts with Granda and a couple of trips to the park and zoo. We decided to go to the zoo on our last day. Dad and Eoghan took the day off but we woke up to heavy rain. But a drop of rain isn't enough to stop me so off we went. I think we only met 2 other people at the zoo! It was still raining fairly hard when we arrived but after we visited the indoor exibits, the rain eased a little and everyone claimed to have a good time. Though I'm sure I'll be hearing ' Remember the day Orla dragged us all to the zoo in the lashing rain?' for a long time. At least the trip was memorable, right ??
