October 2009

We started the month off with a trip to San Diego. The annual Miramar air show was on and even though we didn't make it right to the show - we got a great view of the blue angels doing their thing from a nearby park. It probably worked out better than being right up front and center. It wasn't very loud and the children got to play in a playground when they got bored looking at the jets.
Stephen, Cliona, Gk and Avery had their own little bit of excitement too - they got to go go-kart racing while Kerry, Kat and I cheered them on. They really enjoyed that and afterwards we all went swimming. Hooray for indoor pools! It was a little too chilly for me (or anyone else) to brave the outdoor one.
Back in LA we hosted out first (hopefully annual) Pumpkin party. Gk, Kerry and the girls came up and a bunch of Cliona's classmates came to carve pumpkins, bob for apples and decorate cookies. Cliona had a great time the week before the party, asking all her friends if they could come to her pumpkin party. Apparently it was the talk of the Dolphin classroom.

Soon after the party Mam and Dad arrived and the fun really began. I sure I have mentioned how Cliona just loves batgirl but if not, Cliona loves batgirl!! We decorated her room with lots of bats for Halloween and she decided early in September that she wanted to be batgirl for Halloween. So when Mam arrived, she came complete with 3 sets of bat wings. That's right - Mam, Dad and I dressed up as bats with Stephen as batman and Cliona as batgirl. Mam made us terrific bat costumes and everyone got into the batty spirit! It was great fun! We all headed around to the Eltmans for Devin's spooky Halloween party and then all headed out trick r treating together. Little Devin was dressed up as a transformer but decided to change costume and go trick r treating as batman. That was so funny - we even adopted another batty member to our clan! A perfect end to a fantastic October!!
