Getting ready for baby
With just a few days before baby Philp arrives, I thought I'd post the last of the 'family of 3' photos. It's hard to believe we'll be changing diapers and cuddling a brand new baby this time next week but we are all ready and excited. Cliona has been testing out all the new baby gear with her own babies.
After seeing how well Cliona and Avery did on their skis in December, I decided to take her up to a local mountain a couple of times for lessons. I'm delighted to say that she has really taken to skiing. Last time we all went together and by the end of the day Cliona was skiing down the mountain with Stephen by herself. It was awesome to see - that girl sure likes to go fast. I had seen her do some turning in class earlier in the day but there was no sign of that with Stephen. It looked like they were playing 'race you to the bottom of the mountain'. She was so upset when if was finally time to go. I can't wait to ski with her next year. But this year I was happy to sit on the sidelines and play photographer.
Otherwise Jan and Feb were pretty exciting for Stephen - he took a couple of weekend, snowboarding trips to Mammoth and he got to go to Costa Rica on a surfing/diving holiday. I don't have any of his pictures but I know one of the highlights of Costa Rica was when the divemasters on his boat jumped into the ocean to free a newborn whale that was caught in some fishing line. Pretty brave considering the whales parents were also close by. The diving in general was great. He got to swim with sharks and huge manta rays. The surf was pretty good too.
Cliona and I had a good time while he was away. A highlight was a trip to the Santa Monica pier with Dana and Dave. Clio loved going on all the rides with her Aunt Dana and was even persuaded to go on the roller-coaster, 3 times!! She had so much fun that she practically fell asleep on Dave's leg while we were walking back to the car!
